Is it so wrong to love beautiful things?
Most friends, colleagues, clients and more hear me utter that question often. Luckily, my life enables me to be surrounded by beautiful things: beautiful homes, beautiful product, beautiful people... More a passion and less a job, I work as an interior stylist and consultant, commercial and hospitality object and art curator, and writer and editor.
My work involves collaborating with clever space-makers – developers, architects, builders and interior designers – adding that extra layer to bring their projects to life for the homeowners, marketing photography or Open House/Display events. Sometimes I furnish and style an entire multi-storey home, sometimes I bring together a cohesive look for a smaller space, sometimes I only need to prop an interior ... On the commercial side, my work has involved bringing to life and reflecting the intent of office design (from intimate spaces to larger office floors), curating art and objects in hotel projects locally and internationally and styling display apartments to attract a target demographic. I also create concepts for product to reflect or add to a brand portfolio.
My background is very much media. I’ve worked for more than 28 years as a media professional, from the Sydney-based national magazine market (deputy editor on Australian Interiors, Vogue Entertaining + Travel, Home Beautiful... among more) to editing a magazine division for News Limited and launching new magazine and coffee table books. I’ve also freelanced for many years in the national magazine market (West Australian editor for Australian House & Garden magazine, contributor to The Design Files and published in Belle, Vogue Living, Home Beautiful, Homes +, Inside Out and more).
I find the beauty of these industries is the people you meet, the teams you create or work in and the excitement and conversations when creating spaces and images for those you work with.
