I love working with Bacic Group. Elvira and Drago have such great style and are always happy to put their trust in me. And I loved working on this home… interconnecting spaces, great indoor-outdoor flow, a sophisticated backdrop for furniture and accessories. The owner had chosen some pieces from Edituer and Kartique, so I was able to go into her storage area and choose from those pieces, then add in my own selections...
The beautiful entrance… when I saw this sideboard at Editeur, it had to be included, as did the pieces on it… beautiful oversized pink vase, RY Augousti round vases and more. Elvira and the owner brought in the beautiful Christopher Boots pendant and Peter Milligan ceramic side table underneath, both from Editeur. And I wanted to have Berber rugs (thank you Temple Fine Rugs) through the entire home to soften it up and bring that sophisticated casual-luxe aesthetic.
The transition zone from entrance to main living/dining areas… This antique Indian piece from Kartique is just divine - the owner had chosen this and the black chair from Editeur. I placed them together and brought in the white ceramics, flowers and plants from Little Leaf Co.
Designer Elvira of Bacic stepping out in her interior… I brought in rug from Temple Fine Rugs; table and chairs, Ultimo Interiors; lamp, Editeur. The owner had chosen the daybed from Editeur.
Outdoor… I brought in pieces from Ultimo Interiors and a super tall, incredibly gorgeous, Naga sculpture from Kartique. One of my favourite looks to work with is mixing antique/tribal with contemporary…
Main Living… the owner had bought the beautiful Minotti sofa from De De Ce when it was still open in Perth (now Editeur has the agency) and the mid-century lamp (in next image). I brought in the coffee table, lounge chair, Ian De Souza artwork and all other accessories which are a mix of antique pieces from Kartique, ceramic pieces and cushions from Editeur and books from Boffins Books. While I love restrained interiors in the right interior (which can hold that type of look), I do love a bit of layering…
see above
The kitchen… a damn sexy space… bronze mirrors, cement, dark joinery… again I mixed antique timbers and sculptures from Kartique and my studio with contemporary Paola C pieces from Ultimo Interiors and ceramics from Editeur. Runner, Temple Fine Rugs.
see above
Drinks zone… The pink goat skin console… I saw this piece in Editeur’s storage area and had to have it - luckily they let it out! Dressed with lamp and glassware from Editeur, Ultimo Interiors, ceramic from Kartique, plant and pot from Little Leaf Co and Burmese chair from Kartique.
Up lose of the console pieces and styling - I actually loved doing this little set up… sometimes it’s the little moments that make you happy!
Study… I found these pieces at Edituer - all gorgeous. I have to say that I absolutely loved creating this little look. Again, rug from Temple Fine Rugs.
Main bedroom… it’s all about the view in this room, so I brought in a barely there rug from Temple Fine Rugs, gentle colours in linen from Pure Linen, side tables and lamps from Editeur and artwork from Linton & Kay.
Outdoor terrace… I brought in furniture from Ultimo and placed with antique oversized pots from Kartique.

Client Studio Atelier
This was such a lovely project. I was asked by Studio Atelier to work on the furniture, rugs and placement of the owners’ existing pieces in the new home, plus advise on some colour decisions in fixtures, plus the owners asked me to help arrange their art once they had moved in (a dream job!). Building designers and interior designers, they had designed a classic home for a young couple and their late-teen children. There were two contemporary-classic sofas to choose from: the Chester Moon by Paola Navone from Baxter, or the Windsor from Arketipo and available in Perth from Ultimo Interiors. The latter won out! The chairs and the chaise needed to be rounded. I originally put forward pieces by Vladimir Kagan, but the owners wanted to try them out, so I looked to the Lady chair by Cassina from Mobilia and Ultimo Interiors put forward the Wittner chaise that also now sits in the space. We went through several incarnations of the coffee table before I put forward the idea of a piece by functional artist Olive Gill Hille. I had been in love with her work since her student exhibition, and knew the owners were great supporters of the arts, so it was a match made in heaven. The result in ebonised jarrah is just beautiful and something to treasure and pass down through future generations. The rugs were one of the first things I looked at, putting forward the Tocca Pearl by Battilossi at Temple Fine Rugs, originally in a plain colourway, then looking at bleached out mushroom tones as a barely-there feature in the rug. The dining room rug was another obvious choice, again by Battilossi from Temple Fine Rugs, as were the original midcentury rosewood table and Kai Kristiansen dining chairs from Hunters and Collectors - there was no other choice really, it had to be them covered in a white boucle fabric. My studio had also designed a really beautiful brass sideboard with legs by Olive Gill Hille, which didn’t move forward — but it was gorgeous!
For the photoshoot, it was lovely to work in the space with magnolia, moss and the owners existing pieces and additional pieces I brought in… beautiful Polish glass vessels from Kartique, additional sculpture, objects, bedding, lamps, side tables and vessels from Kartique, Editeur and artists Olive Gill Hille and Pamela Tang - most of which the owner purchased for the home.

Big thank you to Kartique, Olive Gill Hille, Pamela Tang and Editeur for the pieces for the shoot. And huge thank you to the owners for being so stylish and lovely xx

Bring warmth and a sanctuary feel to this urban design. The owners wanted to feel like they were in Noosa or Port Douglas, so I went for a tone-on-tone pale palette with aged, natural and walnut timbers with a mix of antique, iconic and new. We also redesigned the study, taking out the existing colour and bringing in timber tones in harmonious and practical cabinetry; put in a long cantilevered bench in the TV room; and created a 6m long daybed on the interior rooftop lounge. We also brought in beautiful outdoor pieces and pots on all levels.

Upon entering this home, I felt it needed a restrained interior in a light colour palette to contrast against the dark interior. It reminded me of the beautiful South American homes I love, with its use of timber, lush foliage and how it opens up to the exterior. To work with the dark timber walls, I wanted to bring in some woodgrain in lighter and similarly dark tones, leather and some stone… The rug (from Temple Fine Rugs) is a divine barely-there off-white colour, which anchors the living area with the Togo lounge (Ligne Roset) and gorgeous Flax lounge chair (Ligne Roset). A stone-topped coffee table (Ligne Roset), ceramic pebble and leather ottoman (Cosh Living) and walnut stool (Living Edge) make up the rest of the pieces in the living area, all softened by cushions and a bedcover used as a throw from Editeur. On the side table is a gorgeous Studio Vierkant pot from Cosh Living and beside the fireplace are beautiful antique sculptures from Kartique and an antique Burmese pot, also from Kartique. You will also find ceramic sculptures from Sarah Keirle and Tarad Studio, plus functional pieces from Tarad and other items from Sourc. Studio here and nearby in the kitchen. The hero of the kitchen, aside from the kitchen itself (!), are the BassamFellows stools - so divine… I was so excited about these. The outdoor living area is all Cosh Living, including the lanterns. An intimate living /TV zone features another rug from Temple Fine Rugs, Ligne Roset sofa, Living Edge chair and Cosh Living coffee table. Books are from Boffins Books and, again, decorative objects area from Sarah Keirle, Tarad Studio and Kartique. A peek in the bedroom and you will see the totally divine Pure Linen linen bedding from the stonewash range - again one of my favs - and beautiful potted greenery from Little Leaf Co.

Published Australian House & Garden (06|2017)
Collaboration Designer Aaron King approached me to style his first solo residential home for photography. I have to say that when I drove down to see it prior to the shoot, I was completely taken by surprise. This home has a monolithic presence from the road, yet opens up fully at the rear to embrace the beauty of its Australian bush locale and lightly sprawl over its site. And as much as it has those monolithic proportions inside – to accommodate a semi-retired couple who want to live out their days here with visiting family – the mix of materials has an amazing warmth and groundedness that makes this home seem just perfect. I removed the existing furniture from the main living area, and brought in a mix of classics and contemporary design that would sit low in the space and enhance that view. The rug was key to set that subtle Australian bush sage tone inside and its silk composition gave me the understated elegance I wanted, then I layered light and medium timbers, leathers, glass and strong black lines. I mixed up the contemporary sophistication of Georg Jensen vases with th organic luxe of Guaxs vases, plus brought in layerings of throws, cushions and native foliage. It's a shame you can't see the kangaroos that continued to hop past the window throughout the day! This home has wonderful long views down hallways to strong glazing that frames the views, so smaller stools, feature chairs, benches and oversized vases were propped for these areas. Having grown up in country Victoria with the aroma of eucalypts and daily views of native bush, it was nostalgic and such a joy styling this home.

Client Bacic Group
Collaboration Builders Bacic Group asked me to bring in a strong (and slightly rock ‘n’ roll!) solution for this interior. I knew the owners loved mid-century design, so brought in an original 1970s Parisian travertine table from Editeur and teamed it with contemporary leather Muuto chairs from Living Edge. The Beni Ourain rug in the living area is classic mid-century, and is the perfect backdrop for a Flexform sofa, Minotti coffee table and Eames recliner. The owners’ mid-century pieces are dotted about and their Stormie Mills and Indigenous artworks are perfect in this space. The home was designed by Klopper & Davis Architects and built by Bacic Group, who also advised on interior finishes. It appeared in Australian House & Garden magazine.

Client me
My home is a real mish-mash of family pieces, collected pieces and objects over the years, art and objects for projects that are happening at different times and so much more… pieces transition from my home to other people’s homes and photography shoots and our studio (Sourc Studio). However, what remains constant is my love for comfort, familiarity, earthy elements, terracotta, blankets and throws and no-fuss. Of course, my partner Jo has a say in it as well (compromise, blah blah blah), so pieces that mean something to her and express her are also through the spaces (not many, but some!!)… Our home was shot for Australian House & Garden magazine as our thank you to the owner-architect Kate Rae who designed such a wonderful series of spaces to live in.

Object curation + art curation. This was a gorgeous project that required a layered, residential look with pieces that hinted at the Chinatown proximity, the link to stables once located nearby and richness of colour with a bit of quirk. We were also asked to source the main entrance artwork and an artwork for the restaurant. While we looked to local Melbourne artisans and artists for the main public areas of the hotel, with some designer and off-the-shelf pieces, we put forward five artists from around Australia for the main artwork. Anna Dudek from Sydney was chosen and her beautiful glass and brass pieces now hang in the main entrance. We put forward a suspended pit-fired ceramic series of pieces for the restaurant and local Perth artist/maker Jo Gray created it… This involved talks with the head chef’s mother to inject some of his background into the pieces, which was expressed through the Aeolian shipwreck ceramic forms that rest on blown glass by the Jam Factory and poured bronze by local Perth artist Stephen Tero. The forms also depict prickly pear and Sicilian bells. The main pieces sit from 80cm to 1m tall, so were made in five parts and were very scary to move (or even walk past!). They were pit-fired in the Perth hills in ingredients that are now served in the restaurant and were part of the chef’s Nonna’s story.

Collaboration I was tasked with creating a two-bed apartment on $5-$6000 pitched at the student to young professional. The creative brief included a desire for wire chairs and geometrics. I wanted to keep it light with blonde timbers and contemporary colours, then make it comfortable. I always believe in a big throw-yourself-in-sofa and long dining table, even for smaller apartments. Here, the dining table does double-duty as a kitchen bench, and the sofa is the best design ever from IKEA - I just swapped its legs for casters to make it a bit urban industrial (hello IKEA hack). I love this sofa - it's got the best line!

Client Elle Campbell
Collaboration What better way to spend a rainy day than working with the beautiful works of artist Elle Campbell. Elle organised the shoot in a beautiful new build in Peppermint Grove. We were asked to select works from Arthur G and Montauk Lighting, then I brought in beautiful accessories from Living Edge, Table Culture and my props warehouse.

Client Pure Linen
Collaboration Create table-scapes that reflect the sophisticated and/or relaxed nature of new linen ranges and new colours within existing ranges. Shoot needed to reflect a hospitality setting, from restaurant to b&b, and fit with the existing portfolio of product images. I just adore working with the stonewash range of table linens . They fall so beautifully and are incredibly sophisticated, yet beautifully relaxed all at once - like the perfect dinner party. Huge thank you to Marina who brings in these beautiful linens to Australia and is so clever with her colour palettes.
Beautiful tableware from Table Culture, Ultimo and my props warehouse.

Collaboration Prop the office of Multiplex to reflect the intent of the design and accentuate the lifestyle feel of the spaces. Walking through the office, I felt a monolithic cantilevered bench and oversized concrete table had a feeling of Japanese design (Tadao Ando perhaps), so I brought in sculptural bonsai, Japanese ceramics and natural timbers to contrast with the hard cement surfaces. It felt like the space needed to be propped in a strong but sophisticated way to match the strength of the interior, yet still feel contemporary and young.

Client Turner + Turner
Collaboration Turner + Turner asked me to create a look that would reflect the natural, yet contemporary, qualities of their wooden pieces. Created by master craftsman Neil Turner, they also needed to have a sense of sophistication and artisan integrity. I asked Fenella Peacock to come onboard to create the food to show the lifestyle qualities and beauty of these pieces. Images from this shoot were featured on The Design Files in a much-deserved profile on Turner + Turner.

Client District + Uber + Geyer
Collaboration Furniture store District, Design studio Geyer and Uber came together to create the Uber Perth CBD headquarters. My brief was to reflect the design intent and Uber brand, while bringing the spaces to life and adding an extra layer of decoration, some of which Uber purchased for their premises. And don’t you just adore Linguini the Italian greyhound!

Collaboration Take an empty space (with carpet, beige walls and fake hedging) in WA's largest shopping centre and transform it into a location for the media launch of The Good Food & Wine Show 2016. I kept it basic with white walls, concrete, greenery, light-coloured timber trestle tables, white bentwoods and brought in colour through kilims from Temple Fine Rugs, dyed Pure Linen stonewash runners (thank you Fenella Peacock) and medallion artworks (thank you artist Anisah Nasir) to hang from each linen-wrapped potted fern and elephant ear. I brought in the plants to create a wall and define a small welcome/bar area on entry for guests and hide a kitchen behind. These plants were mounted on hooks and guests were encouraged to take them and their medallions home for a bit of interactive fun and to instagram. I'm not a fan of artificial lighting, but it was necessary in this space, which had no windows, and I used basic rice paper shades strapped together like hanging sculptures as pendants. On the table were menus by Ella of Elm Paper, placecards by Judith Ann of Beautiful Writing and centerpieces of raw wooden boards, moss, freckle face and ferns. It was a fun installation making 5m long greenery garlands and balls for our industrial-look urban jungle. Thank you to the team: Anisah Nasir, Amy Kyle, Melanie Hardie and Tim Palmer, and the team from OMG.

This was a lifestyle product shoot to create campaign and deep-etch images for a new candle and bedding range. I was tasked with finding a location and coming up with a feel for the products. To me candles are decadence, especially when used during the day (breakfast by candlelight is one of my favourite things to do… it’s so relaxing and utterly decadent as so unnecessary). There is also something beautiful about doing the dishes by candlelight, lighting a candle as you work or bathe. I wanted to evoke that leisurely, luxurious feel of everyday activities elevated thanks to the flicker of a naked flame…
